According to eKantipur.com report, the Central Committee meeting of the CPN-M held here supported the proposal for the republican front tabled by Chairman Prachanda.
The CPN-Maoist chairman introduced the idea of forging an alliance of republican and nationalist forces at a time when the main opposition party Nepali Congress President Girija Prasad Koirala is talking about the Broad Democratic Alliance.
"It is our older stance that we should form a broader front of likeminded forces and we felt the need for the same in the changed context," said CPN-Maoist leader Baburam Bhattarai.
Likewise, the party is also set to launch its four-month national awareness campaign in favor of the nationality and republic.
According to the CPN-Maoist Spokesperson Krishna Bahadur Mahara, the proposed awareness campaign that is scheduled to be carried from mid-December this year to March in 2009 will organize various programs such as assemblies and conferences at district level, and coordination, literacy, peace and development to assist the government.
